5 Southern Drinks for Cinco de Mayo
1. Beer 'Garita
Ingredients
1 cup frozen limeade concentrate
1 cup tequila
1/2 cup orange liqueur
Crushed ice
1/2 to 1 cup cold beer
To prepare, stir together first ingredients until well blended. Next, fill 4 medium glasses with crushed ice. Pour limeade mixture evenly into glasses. Then add beer to taste and enjoy!
2. Michelada
Ingredients
6 tablespoons spicy Bloody Mary Mix
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
2 (12 oz) bottle of beer
To prepare, combine Bloody Mary mix, fresh lime juice, soy sauce, hot pepper sauce, and beer. Pour over ice and enjoy!
3. Jalapeño Margarita
Ingredients
1 thin slice jalapeño (pulsed)
Handful of celery leaves
6 oz fresh lime juice
Spoonful of confectioners' sugar
16 oz tequila
8oz orange liqueur
To prepare, pour tequila and orange liqueur into a pitcher. Then, mix first 4 ingredients together in a blender. Mix into pitcher and chill. Serve on the rocks in a salt rimmed glass and enjoy!
4. Redneck Margarita
Ingredients
1 oz Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey
12 oz triple sec
Margarita mix
To prepare, salt the rim of a mason jar and fill with ice. Pour in the whiskey, triple sec, and margarita mix. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
5. Classic Margarita
Ingredients
Fresh lime wedge
Margarita Salt
Ice
1/3 cup fresh lime juice
3 tablespoons orange liqueur
3 tablespoons tequila
1/3 to 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Garnish: lime slice
To prepare, Rub rim of chilled margarita glass with lime wedge. Dip rim in salt. Fill cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Ad lime juice, tequila, liqueur, and powdered sugar. Cover with lid and shake thoroughly until chilled. Strain into margarita glass, garnish with lime slice and enjoy!
